The common name "zebra plant" can refer to several different plants, each with its unique characteristics. Here are some of the most well-known:

1. Aphelandra squarrosa

 * This is likely the plant most people think of when they hear "zebra plant."

 * It features striking dark green leaves with prominent white or silvery veins, resembling zebra stripes.

 * It can produce bright yellow flower spikes (bracts) that are quite showy.

 * Native to Brazil, it's typically grown as a houseplant in other regions.

 * Care: Prefers bright, indirect light and high humidity. Keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. It thrives in temperatures above 65°F (18°C) and benefits from diluted liquid fertilizer during the spring and summer.

2. Haworthiopsis attenuata and Haworthiopsis fasciata

 * These are small, rosette-forming succulents also known as zebra plants or zebra haworthias.

 * They have dark green, fleshy leaves adorned with raised white stripes or bumps.

 * They are native to South Africa and are popular, low-maintenance houseplants.

 * Care: They prefer bright, indirect light and well-draining soil. Water sparingly, allowing the soil to dry out between waterings.

3. Other plants sometimes called "zebra plant":

 * Alocasia zebrina: Known for its striking, zebra-striped stems.

 * Calathea zebrina: Features velvety green leaves with dark green stripes.

 * Tradescantia zebrina (formerly Zebrina pendula): Also known as wandering jew, with silvery stripes on purple leaves.

Therefore, when you say "zebra plant," it's helpful to know which one you're interested in to provide the most specific information!

If you're thinking of getting one, the Aphelandra squarrosa is often chosen for its bold foliage and potential for bright flowers, while the Haworthiopsis species are popular for their ease of care and unique succulent appearance.
